American Horror Story: Hotel | Episode 1 Review

So here it is guys, another season of American Horror Story, just in time for Halloween! Now when the show first started, I didn't watch it. I'm absolutely terrified of horror shows and films and I've had bad experiences watching them. Anyway, I binge-watched the other seasons so I hopped on the bandwagon and I was really excited for this new season. As some of you may know that Lady Gaga has joined the lovely ensemble while Jessica Lange is out. There's a possibility that she might be coming back for season 6, so we'll just have to wait and see.

The plot of this season is Hotel, no big shocker there, but Lady Gaga's character owns it--as she has mentioned in previous interviews--and that's what the show revolves around; and the time period is modern day, with a few flashbacks so far from the 1990s. In the first episode, you see a variety of different characters, for some of them, they have shown things from their pasts to give you a peek of who they are and why they act this way. Now I watch the first episode snuggled under my covers freaking out from the very beginning while screaming at the TV lol. But the episode wasn't bad. I saw that one of my friends on Facebook say it reminded them of "The Shining". So I figured it was going to be ok, but there was some weird shit going on...as it always is in AHS.

I'm not going to give spoilers away, but I think that Wes Bentley's character is a little dry..maybe he's just more detached because of something that happened a few years before where the show takes place. But to me, he just seems out of place, not just in the hotel but in the show overall...I think maybe his character from Freakshow would probably be a better fit. But hey it's only the first episode and I'm just waiting to see how his character develops overall. Now for Lady Gaga, I think for right now her acting is fine, some people might not like it, but for me, I feel like she's playing herself...I can't really explain it, I just know that she doesn't seem like an alien to the whole AHS concept. *shrugs* Maybe it's like another one of her complex music videos...but more like a graphic Gothic miniseries for her. I'm sure it's going to get better as the season continues

So far, I don't have any expectations. I'm just wondering how this season will connect with the rest. There was a person from the first season in this episode, but I'm not going to tell you who it was...Don't want to ruin it for the others. I'll be trying to do an episode review every week, if not every 2 weeks just to give you my opinion on how I like or hate the season so far. That way I can give people time to catch up because eventually there will be spoilers..

AHS: Hotel comes on at 10 pm on Wednesdays on FX

That's it for now guys, I hope you've enjoyed the read so far. Leave a response on here and/or Facebook about what you like or hate about the show...
